CANDE
review

The location was across from a nuclear power plant in the middle of the desert about 40 miles west of Phoenix and 7-8 miles south of I-10. A portion of I-10 was closed for cleaning so we had to take a long detour which sat us back about 1/2 hour. Jayni, Randal and I got there around Midnight and after a short wait in the line of cars, we got to the entrance. The people at the door offered to give a few of us a quick pick up ride to the party since the rest of the road was too rough for our car. Jayni, another girl and the driver got in the cab. Randal and I along with two other guys got in the back. We sucked a lot of cold dust on the way but it was a lot of fun going over the dunes and fish tailing in the sand.

The party had a nice vibe going, despite the fact that it was cold and very very dusty. I looked over at the dance area in front of the DJ's stand and could only see bobbing heads peaking in a cloud of dust. I chilled and chatted with a few people for a while and was just about to pick up my camera when I saw a big commotion in the middle of the crowd. All of a sudden I saw everyone running away in all directions. In the middle of the dust I saw a cop and looked like he was arresting a kid. The music was shut down right after that. I walked up to Jeff from Phoenix Light Lab to find out what happened. He told me the cops told him they'll be back in 1/2 hour and if there's anyone left here they will be arrested. Apparently someone had called cops on us.

We decided to go to Jayni's house for a little after party with a couple of the DJs who were about to play there. We hitched a ride with an equipment truck and headed out. After a few miles the truck stopped and the driver told us the road was blocked and he could not go any further and we'll have to continue on foot. After about a mile walking in the sand we came upon a truck that was blocking the road. Next to the truck was a middle aged lady. Well... "IT" was a female but sounded more like the creature from the black Lagoon. She told us to get off her land immediately or she would shoot us. We just asked her to show us another way out if she wasn't gonna let us pass and all we got was a couple hundred of colorful phrases mixed with bad breath, spit and fire, shooting out of her lovely mouth.

We headed back to the party location in the dark. It was very surreal watching cars and people moving around aimlessly in the desert, kicking up dust and gravel into the cold night air. The only light was coming from the power plant that silhouetted the domed reactors surrounded by huge stacks of steam rising into the atmosphere like giant dancing genies. Jayni and I got a ride from another stranded group of people (Michelle, Josh and Heather) who eventually got us back to the party spot where they were tearing down the tents and packing up what little equipment was still left. We told Merlin (one of the promoters) why we couldn't leave and he decided to call the cops back to help us out.

About 20 minutes later a sheriff's car pulled up with a blond guy in the back (which I assumed later was Steve, another one of the promoters). The cop let Steve out and asked us what we were still doing there and we told him the story about the crazy hick blocking the road. He told us not to worry about it. She had been arrested and was in jail now. He offered to guide us out of the desert and back on the main road. I got behind the wheel of Michelle's car with Jayni next to me and Michelle, Heather and Josh in the back and the rest of the cars behind me, all of us following the flashing cherries of the sheriff's cruiser at a snail pace. Even though we were only 10 feet behind him and not driving more than 5 miles per hour the dust was so thick that I still could not see the road and sometimes even his flashing lights would disappear in the dust.

We finally got back to the entrance where we'd parked Jayni's car earlier but there was no car. We hoped Randal, who had the keys and was separated from us earlier, had taken the car home thinking we've already gone with others. We waited around for a few more people, got a little more organized and cleaned up and headed back to Phoenix. Once we got to Jayni's house, Randal and a few other people had already been there and soon about 20-30 more people showed up. DJ Michael, Skott and Mikey spun some cool trance and we just chilled and danced all night. They were still partying when I left around 10 am.

As more people showed up at Jayni's house they told little pieces of the story about last night and here's what I could sum up:

People were told at the entrance to drive very slow and responsibly on the dirt roads to the party since they were driving on neighboring private lands. All the neighbors were told that this was going to be a quiet wedding for a girl name Candy (spelled CandE). Apparently a few party enthusiasts with off road vehicles didn't care about the warning and drove at insane speeds all over the road and sprayed a ton of dust into one of the neighbors front porch. This neighbor happened to be a woman who got away from the city to live in a quiet, peaceful place. After a few hundred cars ravaged her road and covered her in dust she had enough and called the cops up. Some said one of the cars ran her dog over and other's said she made it up to get the cops there faster.

Two cops showed up to check things out and apparently they didn't get immediate cooperation from the promoters so they arrested Steve and tossed him in the back seat. When they got to the party, a few kids got in their face and told them to leave or they will take them down since the kids out numbered the cops 500 to 2. The loudest kid was immediately pushed to the ground and hand cuffed and the rest dropped their beers and ran. Others saw what happened and dropped their stash and ran. The land owner, who by now was drunk as a skunk, started screaming that this party was legit and he had permits and the kids didn't have to be afraid of the cops. He offered to hide everyone in the ditch until the cops left. The cops told the promoters they are not here to shut the party down. They just came to see what's up but if they do see minors drinking on the premise they will arrest them.

But by then half the people were already driving away, freshly druged and fully panicked. When the pissed off lady saw all those cars coming back her way at top speed she decided to block the road with her truck. One of the cars tried to go around and she pulled out her revolver and shot three times at the back tire. The driver got out, thinking she was throwing rocks at his car but found himself at the angry end of a magnum. More neighbors arrived in their trucks to her aid and more guns were about to be drawn. So, now you've got a couple of sheriff cruisers on one end and a bunch of pissed off hillbillies with guns at the other end and a few hundred teenagers who had just begun their ecstasy roll in the middle. The result is hundreds of cars driving no where fast and slowly transporting Earth to the sky in thick clouds of dust.

The promoters wanted to blame the cops for their short temper for this disaster but I don't blame the cops one bit on this one. They faced hundreds of people in the dark and a teenager with a bottle of beer in his hands who's threatening them to leave or else. I think the cops were TOO nice to people. I don't even blame the old lady for calling the cops. She was told this was going to a quiete wedding and instead her house is rattled by the roar of a few hundred cars.

The only thing I have to say here is this: Whenever you face a cop for any reason be nice and cooperate fully. If you can't stand them just pretend they are wild beasts that you're trying to tame with kindness and honesty and patience. Don't be condescending or sarcastic. Don't be a smart ass and arrogant. They've got guns and badges and can call an army of their friends with more guns and badges and even if they do abuse their powers and unleash their nightsticks on your ass no jury in the world is going to side with a whining teenager with metal rings in his face against a cop who's there to protect their money and property.

Raving is almost like doing drugs. If you wanna keep doing it forever you've got to do it responsibly and discretely. As for the promoters, keep in mind that you can't pick and choose who shows up for your party. There are always a few who will cause nothing but trouble. So, always assume the worst and be prepared for it. The choice of venue was very poor and the lack of organization was detrimental. And once again, no matter how much you might hate the cops, cooperate with them or stay out of their way and their sight. If you get in their face you deserve all that's coming to you.

Peace
Ramy

We drove all the way from tempe to swelll to get our tickets at around 11:00p.m. Paid for our tickets, drove all the way to B.F.E. Got there, We drove as far as we could before taking the risk of getting stuck in the sand. Then drove in someone's 4x4, we thought to the party, but really we were only half way there. Next we had to walk to the party in a big SANDPIT. We finally got to the "Party" at arround 1:00. After trying to walk to the party with no light or path to see our way, For the people whose watch it said 4:20 were trippin' in the desert. We were there at the "Party" for only ten minutes to actually enjoy ourselves before 50 showed up.

The vibes at the patry were good but, After everyones troubles to get there, since it was a map check point party. There should definalty be a make up party at a DOPE location. Everyone should bring P.L.U.R. They should make it an obligation to hook up the people that got stuck in the sand in the middle of nowhere. You should never throw a party without a permitt!!!!!!!! It just creates a huge mess.

candE was one of my 2 birthday parties, both of which got broken up! but anyway...all day friday i had been lookin for a ride and finally got one around 8pm...so we left tucson, drove like 2.5 hrs to the location...got outta the car and were surrounded by dirt..LoL when we were walkin there i was actually sinking and my shoes are now permanently brown...when we got to the party, the vibe was awesome, there was a fire and everyone was cOol, then i sat with this little group so i could meet people and spread the word it was my bd =) and then bAm!!! police, yellin blah blah blah...so i got up when everyone was sayin we were gonna get arrested and started lookin for my ride and yellin their names like everyone else was..when i did find them, we asked a friend with a truck for a ride and he ended up goin the exact opposite was of our car so we had to get out and backtrack..walkin more then what we would have if we hadnt gotten a ride, and it was dark and cold ugh! but when we got back near the party, a group of other raver kiddies came and walked back to the car with us, they had flashlights too =)eventually we made it to our car and headed back to tucson 2.5 hrs....sucked cause i was only at the party for like 30 min...but it did have a gOod vibe and it would been awesome! i missed nimh and michael =( but paul-E was awesome!!! the other party that got busted was whats poppin...it wasnt as early but there was a lotta undercovers ( be careful kids!!), but it was the best party! im so happy i went and i had fun and i was with the kyoOtest boy =) hehe...lets hope THC isnt busted!!

Wow, alright Cande was a pretty horrible rave experience. And I can't say much for the way a lot of ravers acted. I was on the dance floor jammin' to the DJ's intense spin when the 5-0 rolled up to the top of the hill (right by the DJ's)Anyway some girl made a lude comment to the cops and of course a cop came down to find out who it was and scare her by handcuffing her, but the cop wasn't really sure who it was and when he grabbed a girl right next to the one who actually said it she almost got hauled away for nothing,I mean what kind of PLUR is that.To watch one of your fellow ravers get taken away because you couldn't keep your mouth shut and then think it's OK that they take the fall? I was totally disgusted with us. The long walk back to the car was refreshing. PLUR was happening all around us. In fact my roommate, can you say ambercrombie?,at her first rave got right in that dirt and helped push cars out all the way back to our ride.I know PLUR isn't dead, but we really neede to make it more apparent. Ilove you all and can't wait to dance and visit with you at PopIce2

Yea, My friends and I got to the party around twelve. It was alright, the vibe was good but the location was bullshit. I was sobre but I wore a face mask anyway. I couldn't breath from all the dust. I mean they could have hosed it down or something. And they should have had a permit. I mean if you saw a bunch of lights and heard all that loud music with a bunch of kids running around, would you believe that it was a quite wedding for a girl named candE? I think there should definately be a dope ass make up party.

CANDE was a bust. For a long time I have thought the police play an important role in our society. When the police put a stop to a harmless event such as CANDE it makes me wonder why we pay them to waste their time. Another point of interest is when the policeman lost his composure and shouted profanities at some of the ravers, this shows a total lack of professionalism.

Some of the group I went with had only one way to deal with the situation and that was to go to CA and feel a good vibe. The music was great and so were the people. It is hard not to have a good time with talent such as Seb Fontaine and Markus Shultz there.

Well, I came with a group of my friends in a van and a giant Expedition. The party seemed like it would be alot of fun despite the dust and desert atmosphere. Golden and Focus were cool, so nobody was too worried. For the first few hours we were there I had a good time dancing and seeing my friends. They had just begun spinning some -cool- as Hell music when the cops came. I saw one of 'em seriously knock the DJ right down and say they were actually shutting the party down, so we all left. We (all my friends) got seperated and our cars bottomed out on the road nearly 5 times. We were stuck out in the desert for hours until the towing people came. It was cold and dusty and all around weird toward the end. The party would have been very cool if particular circumstances hadn't arisen and I don't blame TJ or Merlin or any of the other people who threw and promoted the party. The events couldn't be changed and it really was nobody's fault. There'll be parties in the future to make up for it. No worries. ;D

I thought that Golden was dusty. CandE was extremly dusty, even dustierb than Golden

HA! CandE was the main course of my night from hell.... two friends & i drove all the way from TUCSON for that party. when we went to the checkpoint to pick up tickets and a map, the kids handing them out assured us that the party was in Casa Grande- a measly 45 min away from tucson. so we got on the road and started driving at about 9:30... 2 1/2 hours later, we were STiLL driving. by the time we finally arrived at the party- 50 miles WEST of phoenix- we were met by hundreds of frantic ravers ditching the party... ehhhh.... so without even getting a glimpse of the party, we got back into my car and drove 2 1/2 hours back to tucson. WHAT A DRAG!!

..so heres my gripe... why tha hell did they promote this party in tucson in the first place??? if we had known that candE was gonna take half the night just to drive back and forth to, we wouldnt have gone... my friends and i feel as though we got royally fucked- we were lied to about the location of the party because they knew that there was no way in hell we'd be willing to prepay tickets for a party that was 175 miles away. a note to candE productions- youve not only pissed off a load of tucson ravers, but youve lost our trust. dont count on us coming to any more of your parties.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

fortunately, i was stupid enough to drive all the way back out to peeeeenix on saturday evening for 'whats poppin'. although it got busted early in tha aM, the music was amazing and the drugs were fabulous... its too bad they didnt kick in until the cops showed up... but then, that made for an unusually 'friendly' ride home... teeheee....

CandE was gunna be a dope pawti*E, it was goin purdy gewd till da copperZ showed up... but then, the worst possible thing that could have happened, happened, I lost my favorite stuffed doggy that I've had for 12 years =*o( you can see him in the asembly pistures of Christine and Stephanie, hes in between us...... =*o( if anyone knows where he might be please let me know!! it is VERY important I get him back.... e-mail me at [email protected] if you have any info about him... anyway... back to the party....

that lady was nuttZ!!!! anyone who went to the pawti*E knows what I mean! we all went to Jayni's house and had a dope time!!!!!! all my ranting and bitching about this party was left to the az-raves mailing list...CandE would have been a phatass party, but alas...cops...i had a great time for the hour that i was there, and just like ramy said, it was a surreal experience walking around in the dark watching all these cars and ravers hopelessly lost...id just like to say what's up to everyone i saw/met there, and to the people i rode in the truck to the party, and the concrete truck on our journey out of the party...what an experience **day-o, day-o, daylite come and me wan' go home** [i was the one with the Cat in the Hat backpack!]...hope the afterparty was a good makeup to all the traumatic bullshit...

Ahhhh....is what I first have to say. Ok, we got there and approched the check in "spot" where we were told that we had to go slow and ignore the crazy lady. We had 4 other cars of friends behind us. We went slow and approached the crazy lady. Just our luck (for my car, not our friends) she had just ran inside the time we approached. We didn't know why, but we got passed and so did one other car behind us. Our friends and us always carry walkie talkies to keep track of eachother at parties incase we get broken up and need to find one another. So on the way to the parking lot, we hear "Hey guys we can't go any farther, the crazy lady won't let us by." We told them to ignore her and drive by, but they couldn't because at this time her truck was in the middle of the road and she was yelling I am calling the cops. So she told them another way to go. Ofcourse our friends got stuck, because they have a low rider and nobody bothered to tell them, the venue was not low rider friendly. So they got stuck and it took them about 20 mins to get unstuck. We were talking to them the whole time on the walkie. We pulled up to the parking lot, and I was very freakin' out by now. But I found the guy that owned the land we were partying on, and he said everything was alright. The few that rode in my car with me were talking to him and his wife for about 20 mins while waiting for our friends. Finally we went into the party and set stuff down. We looked around for all of our other friends, who apparently had not shown up yet. They arrived finally about 15 mins. after us. We all got together, so now there is about 20 people in our group. We set our stuff down and set up "camp." Not 30 mins after the cops came, just as i predicted. I was freaking out, i was totally scared. Do not know why, probably because i had just dropped my pill and the cops came in angry. (Let i remind everybody that i take E once every month or two, and CandE was that one time a month) So i gathered up our friends, stuck around to talk to the promor and the guy that owned the property. Forget it, we all took off, and were supposed to meet at the country market down the main road. To our luck we were the only car that parked in the first parking lot. NO WAY OUT!!!!! So, we went down one road, to our surprise a car was stuck, then we turned around, the driver of my car was freaking out and just wanted to get the h*ll out. We came down the road we came, nope Rhonda Hicks was blocking it and threating to shoot us. So, scared to death now, because we cannot leave, we turn around and head back to the party scene. We come upon a friend walking we give him a ride to those of his friends ahead of us, he then gets out. "Can you guys give us a ride to our car," I hear a lady call out. I tell who ever can fit to get in our car. Ramy and Jayni get in our car. So now, there is 5 people in my car, Ramy's equipment, Janyi's cooler, all of our blankets. We drive a little bit and then ask Ramy to drive because the person driving my car didn't know what to do. So Ramy took over my car and we go back to the party scene. We talk to the promoter, and tell him what's up and that we need to call the cops we don't have a choice. So he calls the cops, they show up and Ramy and I talked to the sheriff for about 15 mins before he leads us and 7 others out of the area. We are out and told that Rhonda Hicks got arrested. We are on the main road, Ramy and Jayni still in my car, Ramy driving. We pass the country market, no friends. It had been about an hour and a half if not more for us to get out of that place. We stop at the truck stop and see a bunch of other raver kids in the parking lot. We inform them that there is an "after" party at Jayni's house w/DJ's and what not. They follow us to her house. Now me and my two friends are in the back while Ramy and Jayni took over the front of my car. Jayni lives all the way near chandler blvd. and that is a long way. I am talking the whole way there, b/c my car is without a radio. Terrible!!!!! Finally we get the Jayni's house, and see ople already there and having fun!!! We stayed to hear Dj Skott spin and other Dj's from the partie were arriving as we were leaving. We got home about 8 in the morning, and i still was wide awake. We call our friends who were waiting for us, they were wide awake too. Finally the night (day) ended. That was one hellof a night...I hope never to go threw that again. THANK YOU RAMY FOR TAKING OVER MY CAR!!!!

smile and be happy :o)

i just liked 2 say that merlin and mikey picked a phat loKation. 5 other kids and i arrived about 12am. haven't seen tj since my break. i was plur to see him at the dirt entrance. finally got to meet paul-e. even say hi to that lady who wuz followin him too. dancin' and chattin' for bout an hour when cops show up. wasn't happy to see my friend get arrested. I knew the promo's had the papers...but...by the sounds of the cops...the best thing was to cooperate. THANX to all those who helped me free. i thought it was fun to do a little 4-wheelin in a honda civic.

one thing i do have to say...PEOPLE...we must save and keep our PLUR RAVER scene...cuz even tho we don't like cops...jus cooperate...and hey maybe we could have stayed and listened to paul-e and bodhi.

well, whats poppin was a make-up to fridays experience...saw more kids that i haven't seen since my break. i had sobre phat time just as i did at candE. i love to spread PLUR and show people we can choose to do drugs to have fun but we can also have fun with that natural hi.

MUSIK IZ DA NATURAL DRUG.

too bad the ghetto bird and his ground crew had to kill the fun. ghetto bird says "...thank you have a nice day."

ending note to a BUSTED weekend...the scene needs to chill and find the underground again... too publicized parties are getting around to the police and we jus can't seem to have our fun.

so far i've had a good impression with Let's Go Productions parties...

LA RAVES??!!!?? Good Lord They Suck... i mean cmon. What happened to the underground??!!!? All the raves there are these big, blownup, $30/$25 dollar events with huge names and lots of lighting and effects.. of course that's a cool thing to have but at what price??? Cops galore, non-ravers attending the event and making a ruckus, and so many damn restrictions... next thing u know they will be outlawing big pants or damn glowsticks. Its getting scary to imagine how much the rave scene is moving from underground to the mainstream. and its happening here in az too.... i dont wanna name names but i'll bet by reading this... u alll will able to figure out what im hinting at. dont; let it happen to the az rave scene. say NO to expensive talent from all over the world. SAY NO to hundreds of thousands of lighting and laser effects, SAY NO to huge venues filled with cops, and SAY NO to paying more than $15 bucks for any rave. thatz just my opinion and i hope people realize whats going on now.

thanks

Whats up Ramy,Well it sounded like Cande was very WHACK!Im sorry!Well anywayz let me tell you about my weekend! It started with a very short ride to San Diego, and when we got there we went to Mileage to get our tickets for angelik and the guy told us that anjelik and the Zen fest had been combined!!!Let me tell all the people who didnt see the Anjelik flyer,Rabit in the Moon was the headliner with Funkdoobiest,Ak1200,Doc Martin, and everyone else! This was fitting to be the best party EVER untill we finally got to the Orange show where it was supposed to be held and we come to find out that NO one from Anjelik was going to be there but the funny part was that the ASSHOLES at the Orange show were taking anjelik tickets and charging 10 MORE dollars to come into the Zen fest!!!!So we were getting ready to enter the Zen fest and we had a bunch of flyers and were waiting for one of my friends to get back when a security gaurd approched us and said that since we had flyers we wernt even allowed to go INTO the party at all!!!!!!WHAT THE FUCK!!!So we sold our tickets and went to the anjelik party [which was in downtown LA]when we arrive to anjelik there are about 2000 ravers out side of this little ass building and we are being told that it has already reached capacity!!we were about to cry! When all of the sudden Rabbit in the Moon pulls right up next to us in a limo! They get out and start Bullshiting with all of the ravers sitting out side!that was the SHIT!any way we hand out all the rest of our flyers and head back to the zen fest But we just decided to go to a local party instead.Mind you Oscure,Deacon,Nicholas Bennison, and Huggie were spinning! So it didnt seem local to us!But all in all we went to 3 different parties in 3 different citys in one night!I think that was a first! And in the middle of it all we saw Nicole in TARGET!!!What a wierd experience Thanx to Bryce and Billy for getting us in to the parties and go to there party on December 3rd called COMMUNION!Its going to be the shiznit! Well I had fun,I think?and yes Cali definitly knows how to PARTY!!!!!!

Wes

Well i went to another rave type of thing again but i must say that i didnt have as much fun this time. When i first got there i was comfronted by 3 large men with mustaches.they were asking me if could get them any "x" or any "doses"and i told them yes.so we went looking for the"x" i finnaly found the man with "it"then all of the sudden the men takled us and placed us under the rest.he hauled us off in the coast and that was pretty much the end of the night.i didnt know that the cops went to raves!!!that really sux man!!i will be carful this time huh!!but i still am in love with candy ravers!!!!and will always beeeee!!!!!

Agnas

Ok well i'll start by saying that was my first rave that i went to! We got there around 11pm had a hell of a time and then all the sudden i look away frfom the fire and i see this cop pulling on this kid! i was like what kind of shit is this?!?! All my friends are telling me that raves are so much better than this so i hope when i go to PopIce2 it will be so much better! if not im through with raves :*(

HEY SHIT HAPPENS, DONT KNOCK THE AZ-RAVER FAMILY WE GOT GOING ON HERE IN ARIZONA. IM SURE CALI HAS PHAT ASS PARTIES BUT NO ONE CAN COME WITH THE VIBES "D/T/S" CAN. PLUR TO THE AZ- RAVERS THAT STILL BELIEVE THAT WE CAN ALL STICK TOGETHER AND NOT BE FADED BY "LAW ENFORCEMENT" , A WORD OF WISDOM TO ALL THE RAVERS OUT THERE,"DONT CLOWN THE TOWN U JUST MIGHT LIVE IN". I MISSED CANDE BUT IM SURE THE PROMOTERZ WILL FIND AN UNDERGROUND VENUE TO THROW THE MAKE UP PARTY FOR THIS "MISUNDERSTANDING" THE TOWN'S PEOPLE JUST DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON. "IF U WANT TO KEEP IT REAL KEEP IT ON THE DOWN LOW". REMEMBER "RAVING IS NOT A CRIME"! [HINT HINT] I HOPE U ALL CAN UNDERSTAND THAT SHIT HAPPENS AND MAKE UP PARTIES ARE ON THE WAY. PEACE LOVE UNITY RESPECT TO ALL THE RAVERS THAT STILL BELIEVE IN THE POWERS OF THE PEOPLE.

THE "ESKIMO"

My friends and I got to CandE pretty early cuz we had to be home at 2. (Grr!) So we got there around ten or ten-thirty & the vibes were superdope!!! : ) I met sooo many new people that were sooo sweet! But when we tried to leave at 1 or so, we got stuck (some of y*all might have seen us--we were in the red Civic hatchback & the driver was crying... some of you might have helped us move it! Teehee) So we got stuck & we were there for about 30 minutes & *IvY* was crying, & then some people helped us move the car. The security dude (I forgot his name) came over & drove us till we got stuck a few more times. Then the 5-0 showed up. The security boy had to go talk to the popo*s & then he never came back! About 50 cars started going by, & about 3/4 of them got stuck with us. So we*re stuck in front of this HUGE Expedition (Prolly Bea*s) & behind a big hill... not moving. A buncha ravers got out & helped us move the Civic--it took like, 20 of us--& then *IvY* drove till she stopped to come back & get us. We lost *Megan* & then we found her, & we got in the Civic & we drove off the road through, over, beside, on all the bushes & it was very scary. Then we got out of the desert at like, 3 or so. We drove back to Peoria & went to a car wash & washed the car, then we went to *IvY*s & slept. : ) Then on Saturday night we were supposed to go to What*s Poppin* but *Rascal* couldn*t get us in so we drove around with *Emo* & *Erik* all night... back & forth from Tempe & Phoenix & Peoria...but What*s Poppin* looked RAD. : ) I was sooo sad that we had to miss it! : ( Anyway--the CandE location was pretty tight. The vibe was AWESOME. It would have been my favoritest party if it hadn*t gotten broken up : ) & if we didn*t get stuck.

*AmeY*

I think that these promoters are very inexperienced and should read the "how to throw a rave" handbook. What a waste of time going out there?? what the hek and now theyre trying to throw a cheesey party and step on someones toes whos been planning there party for months. I guess the talk on the list about respecting the other promoters is a joke and its a free for all so be it.

COOkie

Me and my girl friend TEMPT & My friend josh had this rave all planned a week beforehand! We drove to metro center at about 11:00 pm and bought our tickets from the guy behind mama mia's. I spent about 50 bucks on 3 tickets for all of us. We went all out for it we bought coffee, water, candy and we had money to roll saved for week's! Then we drove for about a good 30 minute's and hit some fucked up detour that took about 45 minutes! Then drove about 1 and a half hours to the middle of know where went down some messed up dark ass road thet led past the power plant into a shit load of dust and head lights and 2 cop car's blocking the damn entrance then i asked my girlfriend to ask around about what happend and we talked to DJ Micheal and a couple of other pissed off raver's that told us what happend! Then we had to turn the hell around and go back throught all that shit again! It's pretty cool that some people got to party for what 10 minute's before getting sent home but i didnt have any fun all weekend beacuse of it!

LoGiK & TeMpT!

Hey all you ravers out there I have to agree with "THE ESKIMO" shit happens. I missed candE but it couldn't have been that bad if alot of people had a good vibe and all. Some raves are going to go bad so appreciate the ones that are the shit! The last rave I went to was Trip Tronic in Tucson Az. It was tight, the DJ's had phat beats going on and I was rollin' off my ass. I had a lot of fun. I havent been into raving that long but I am really excited about all the nice and out going ravers. Everyone has been so nice to me espeacially Danny,Banea,Megan,Jennifer,Collin,Reed,Cena,Liz,Clint,Zev,and especially GOOF!!!! So lets keep our good vibes going and not let the bad one's get to us!

Hey everyone! Just to clear things up CandE was a disappiontment for alot of people but it was not the promoters fault. Shit happens, and I know the promoters were way more upset than anyone else. I love raves and there's one thing that I've learned no matter what ravers stick together. Come on people cops get called sometimes. I just want to let -u- know if it' was a nark who called and got one of my good friends raves broken up what goes around comes around and I hope the raves in the future end with everyone saying what a great time they had.

We went to CandE as well, but why talk about that nightmare when there is ZENFEST L.A. to discuss!!

Zenfest was at the Orange Show location, which for those of you who have not been, is a very cool venue. Several "airplane hangar" type buldings with courtyards and fountains outside. The ONLY weak part of the night came when we walked in, security did not allow masks, beads, vicks, candy, open cigarette packs, etc. etc. Not really a big deal but it was all good. We got inside and were instantly blown away. Safari media really pulled out all the stops on this party. Lasers, videos, smoke, the whole 9 yards and it was seriously amazing. Then there was the music. Oh my.... It made us all wonder aloud why we still go to Phoenix parties when the music is THAT fucking badass at the LA raves. We hung out in the Trance room almost the whole night. (Note to Phoenix promoters: Seperate your Trance/House and Jungle/Drum and Bass stages... PLEASE!!!!!)

Markus Shulz got the crowd good and fired up for the headliner, Gatecrasher DJ, Seb Fontaine... what an experience, he totally rocked. This party had such a good vibe, get this, a couple of the security guards came and sat down with us for about 15 minutes, just chilling and talking about shit. It was so damn cool. We made a whole ton of new friends among the Cali ravers. This was my first Cali rave and I must say that the vibe totally kicks. I have to offer HUGE props to Safari Media, and all our Phoenix friends who work for them: Nicole, Randy, Ryan, Alan, and all the rest who helped throw this party, It was so worth the four hour drive!!! Major THANK YOU!!! To all my fellow Phoenix ravers: After a weekend where two parties get busted out here, we can all learn a lesson from the professional promoters at Safari Media. ZenFest LA was an amzing experience, I only wish more Phoenix ravers had been there to share it with us!

Zen Fest was by far the best indoor location I have ever been to. There were at least five stages but only two main ones. The music was so good though, one wa enough. No matter what stage we ended up at the music kicked ass. I went with a new group of California ravers and two kids that have never expierienced the rave phenomenon. Yup folks, new recruits. Anyway after we got there it was a great surprise to see my favorite Phoenix ravers Rex, Pam, Sohail and the drug advisor Doctor Zy. We had a great time. I got to get up on stage and dance with Seb Fontaine while he was spinning which was awsome. The laser show was amazing. "Light one up it's 420" written in green laser? WHAT!! The vibe was great, the secuirty was chill after we got in and it was all around a kick ass party. The HOLY SHIT award goes to the Phoenix ravers as earlier mentioned for getting kicked out of CANDE only to drive to California. Anyone who has not been out here yet.. WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU WAITING FOR!!! California, knows how to party! California, knows how to party....Sorry.

my first out of town rave was "FOCUS FESTIVAL" and even though it seemed like everything wrong was going on that day that led me to believe i wasn't going to go, im very glad i wenr. it was located behind some huge mountains in picacho peak and it was fucking increidble. it w as very dusty but nothing in comparrison to "where it's at" (i think they watered it down before). they had the most incredible light shows. it was dusty enough that when the dust hit the green lights above our heads, the sky looked like green clouds. they projeted the coolest things on the mountains behind the stage. the vibe was awsome-i met so many flagstaff and phoneix kids. and when jon bishop and digital assasins came on, THEY TORE THAT SHIT UP! man, all the kids were going crazy. there was so much plur going around the place. there was an awesome show from "the fire dancers" as well. "FOCUS FESTIVAL " really helped me restore faith back into the rave scene. it seems like lately people aren't understanding what the rave scene is abouT :enjoy the music, enjoy the company of your brothers and sisters, it's not cool to rip people off. it seems like the kids today are losing that focus. and "FOCUS FESTIVAL" was exactly what i needed peace, love, and respect ghetto fabs

GHETTO FABS

LISTEN UP. I HAVE A REVIEW ABOUT ALL RAVES IN GENERAL. RAVES ARE ABOUT HAVING FUN, MEETING FRIENDS, DANCING ALL NIGHT LONG AND BEING WITH PEOPLE THAT YOU FEEL YOU CAN TRUST(OR AT LEAST NOT WORRY ABOUT) RECENTLY THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL RAVES WHEN VERY MEAN, STUPID PEOPLE HAVE BROKEN INTO CARS AND STOLEN THINGS THAT AREN'T EVEN WORTH STEALING. THE LAST RAVE I WAS AT (6TH ELEMENT) WAS A REALLY EXCELLENT RAVE, GREAT DJ'S AND GREAT PEOPLE AND EVERYONE WAS HAVING FUN UNTIL WE WENT OUT TO OUR CAR AND FOUND BOTH OF THE WINDOWS BROKEN AND ALL THEY HAD TAKEN WAS A PURSE(WITH NOTHING OF VALUE TO THEM IN IT) AND A FEW CD'S. JUST BEHIND OUR CAR WAS ANOTHER CAR THAT WAS BROKEN INTO AND I'M SURE THAT THERE WERE SEVERAL OTHERS. THIS NEEDS TO STOP BECAUSE ONE DAY YOUR GONNA GET CAUGHT BY SOMEONE, MAYBE NOT A COP BUT, SOMEONE AND YOUR GONNA GET YOUR ASSES KICKED. BELIEVE ME,I COULD'VE KICKED SEVERAL THAT NIGHT. IT'S NOT WIRTH IT AND WHOEVER IS DOING IT NEEDS TO STOP NOW!! IT'S NOT RIGHT!! ESPECIALLY RIGHT BEFORE THE HOLIDAYS. IT'S A TERRIBLE THING TO DO AND ONE DAY YOUR GONNA GET IT ALL BACK. YOU ARE TERRIBLE PEOPLE.

cande was a nightmare and I was very unhappy. My friends and I drove a long wayz northern arizona to arrive to busted rave. but I tripped hard on the people getting stuck in the sand. I was almost a victom of the sand but thinking around the acid got me out of the nightmare.Ithen found myself lost and trippin on many doses trying to find the after party. Well I gave up looking for the party and went to a local recreational near Mesa and tripped on the water flowing until daylight came.

Anyone want to contact me write me at:

Hello Everyone well I'd just like to say that I've been ravin for a while now and this was one of my worst parties yet! I decided to go because my b/f's sister was DJ Paul-E's girlfriend. Anyway I'm by the dj stand listening to Paul's Awesome Trance when a cop comes up and tells him to turn the music off. Then the cops srart yellin and everyone freaks! Everyone scatters to find their ride home. Well my b/f leaves me with his sister and he rides with Paul. They find a rode to get out on even though it f***ed up our car. In the meantime we get stuck in the desert for 5 hours before we are able to get help and get out. THe cool part is ravers really stick together. When I was cold somebody took me to a fire, when I needed a cigarette someone handed me one, when I was thirsty someone let me have some of their water, when I lost it someone came to tell me everything was going to be alright. So yeah it sucked but I thought it was really cool how everyone who was stuck did everything they could to help.

I'VE BEEN RAVING FOR ABOUT TWO YEARS OR SO. ALL OF THE KIDS THAT I USED TO PARTY WITH AREN'T RAVING MUCH ANYMORE, SADLY. BUT I KNOW THIS, ALL OF THE RAVE NEWCOMMERS AND THE PEOPLE THAT ARE MAKING THE SCENE BIGGER NEED TO KNOW THAT RAVES ARE ALL ABOUT PLU. LATELY IN NEW MEXICO THE RAVE SCENE IS NOT THE SAME BECAUSE OF THE PEOPLE. THERE ARE ALOT OF PEOPLE THAT ARENT THERE TO REALLY RAVE. MANY OF MY FRIENDS ARE DECIDING THAT THEY WILL NEVER GO TO A RAVE ANYWHERE IN NEW MEXICO AGAIN BECAUSE OF ALL THE WHACK SHIT THATS GONE DOWN. PERSONALLY, I GO TO RAVES BECAUSE I LOVE TO DANCE, IT'S A PASSION OF MINE AND I'D LIKE TO KEEP IT THAT WAY FOR A WHILE . AS LONG AS PEOPLE GET THE MESSAGE TO KEEP RAVES

UNDERGROUND FOR THE SAKE OF CONTINUING RAVES THEN PEACE, LOVE, UNITY, AND RESPECT WILL PROSPER WITHIN ALL OF US.

PEACE, RAINBOW

I never did respond but shit does happen and the effort and love we put into it not including the 4 months of promoting should of said something. The free water said everything, but none the less personally I'm sorry. Just know at least I put my heart into it and everyone involved ment well. Seriously Thank You to everyone who came....LOVE ALWAYS,UBL

Mikey

the party was crap and to any one who wondered what happend to the kid he is army peace

the kid arrested by the cops

i think cande was the weirdest partys ive ever gone to. after everybody left me and a couple car loads of peole just sat by a fire and turned on a car to listen to musik. that party didnt seem like it was planed very well but it was all fun just not too fun. fuck the cops they just need to leave us alone and let us be on our happy way

Eric

wow, what memories. i am just re-reading this [taking a trip down memory lane] on 4.18.01 - i still remember this entire situation. wow, what a night. i was with ramy in the truck that we all piled into on the way IN to the party; i was there to watch my friend [the one who was handcuffed] get drug through the desert by the cops; i was there in the mixer truck that hit the dead-end; i was there when the lady was threatening us with the gun. not fun stuff i tell ya. the mile long pitch-black desert trudge back to the car wasn't all that great either, but gave time to cool off. anyways, i'm once again glad that this site is here to keep everyone's memories [good & bad] alive. peace...

Actually, I kinda liked the walk in the desert part. I felt like I was in some kind of rave surviver expedition in some futuristic world.
